Indiblogger has given me an
opportunity to speak with five different people, dead, alive or fictional, using
WeChat and I’ll use this opportunity to call those five people, whom my
autistic younger brother always wanted to speak with, in order to convince them to come to my younger brother’s 14th
birthday.
Everybody has a hidden desire to
connect with their role models, who have inspired them to do something big in
life and lead a healthy and happy life. My brother’s choice of role
models may sound a bit childish. But they have inspired him and taught him to
never quit and fight for his rights, to make others happy, to be obedient and
many other things. The five people I would talk to on my WeChat group are as
follows:-
John Cena
John Cena fulfilling a kid's wishes |
John Cena, WWE Superstar, may be
the most hated superstar among the smart pro-wrestling fans but he has granted
the most wishes (300 and counting) to sick children through Make-A-Wish
Foundation. He makes their life meaningful again and helps them to live out
their dream. My brother simply adores John Cena and his eyes lit up whenever he
sees him on the television screen. John Cena has taught him to never quit and
always fight for what is right. Pro-wrestling might be scripted but John Cena
has become that hero to my autistic brother whom he could always root for and make
him believe that everything is possible in the world and even an underdog could
conquer the world. Nobody can bring more smiles on a child’s face than John
Cena.
Shaktimaan
Mukesh Khanna as Shaktimaan |
My brother has been watching
Shaktimaan for 7-8 years now. If there is someone who can boast of teaching him
moral values, it has to be Shaktimaan. In every episode, Shaktimaan taught
children few moral values and how it will have an adverse effect on the society
if not followed. This inculcated a sense of right and wrong in my brother and
he became a much caring and kind person. Many a times, my 13 year old brother
has given Shaktimaan’s reference and made some mature choices which left me
astounded. So, I know nothing can make my brother happier than having a
one-on-one conversation with Shaktimaan. Hence, I’ll ask Shaktimaan to come for the birthday party.
Ronald McDonald
Ronald McDonald |
Well, we all know that Ronald McDonald is the clown character used as the mascot of McDonalds. In television commercials, he inhabits a fantasy world called McDonaldland, and has adventures with his friends. Whenever I take my brother out, I make sure that I visit McDonalds and get him a ‘Happy Meal’ along with the toy. My brother needs the toy just because he sees Ronald having a good time with those toys in advertisements and once he gets the toys, he imagines himself in McDonaldland and has a happy time himself, eating the Happy Meal and playing with his toys. I can’t fathom the happiness my brother would feel when his fantasy character Ronald McDonald would meet him in reality.
Ishaan Awasthi
Darsheel Safary as Ishaan Awasthi |
In the 2007 Bollywood film ‘Taare
Zameen Par’, Darsheel Safary played the character of Ishaan Awasthi, an
eight-year-old boy who dislikes school, fails every test or exam, finds all
subjects difficult and is belittled by his teachers and classmates. After
watching the movie, my brother felt that all kids were special, wonderful and are
like stars on earth. He could totally relate to the plights of a special kid
shown in the movie. The movie celebrated the abilities of children and my
brother found a friend in Ishaan Awasthi, who touched his heart. This year I
hope that my brother meets his friend and shares his experiences with him.
God
Quite frankly, I want God to meet
my brother and tell him how special he is. My brother is soon going to be of an
age where he can be influenced easily and I don’t want him to feel that he is
different or that he is not capable of leading a normal life. I know that my
brother isn’t the only person suffering from autism but I want God to come down
and make my brother realize that he is a unique person and the world is his to
win.
The conversation of the group
chat would be something like this.
Me: Guys, I have made this group for one reason
only. My autistic brother is soon going to celebrate his 14th
birthday and I want to make that day the best day of his life. Hence, I request
you guys to be come down here at my place and be a part of my brother’s
birthday.
John Cena: Well you can be sure
of one thing. On your brother’s birthday, he would be chanting ‘THE CHAMP IS
HERE’.
Shaktimaan: Thehro, kabhi bhi guroor
nahi dikhaana chahiye (Pride comes before a fall)
John Cena: I’m Super Cena. WWE’s
version of Superman. Who are you to lecture me?
Shaktimaan: Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkar Nath Shastri Sri Satya.
John Cena: Who are these people now? I don't care how many people you get because at the end, I'll be the Last Man Standing.
Ronald: I’M LOVING IT!!!

Shaktimaan: Yeh thi chhoti chhoti
magar moti baatein.
John Cena: Looks like the oldie has gone senile. Don't be a Bully. Be a Star.
Ishaan: Thank you John Cena.
Me: Ishaan will you come for the
birthday party? I would appreciate it if you do.
Ishaan: Mujhe birthday parties
ekdum mast lagta hai. Main na painting bhi banaunga.

Me: Ronald, you seem the most enthusiastic.
Ronald: I’M LOVING IT!!!

board and ready for the surprise visit. Thank you guys. If only God had also
acknowledged us with his presence.
God:
