Thank You Shawn Michaels, the greatest pro-wrestler we will ever see.

I think I'm cute.I know I'm sexy.
I've got the looks,That drive the girls wild
I've got the moves, that really move 'em.
I send chills up.Up and down their spines.
I'm just a sexy boy,Sexy boy
I'm not your boy toy,Boy toy
I'm just a sexy boy,Sexy boy
I'm not your boy toy,Boy toy

I've heard this classic entrance many times but I heard it the last time on RAW 29-03-2010.It belongs to Shawn Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid, whose monikers include The Headliner, The Showstopper, The Main Event, The Icon, and Mr. WrestleMania.

HBK has been my absolute favorite wrestler since he won the Royal Rumble '95 match. It was the first wrestling match I ever saw and I was in awe of the way Shawn survived 29 other men. Then he won the rumble again the next year & the WWE Championship AT Wrestlemania 12 against Bret Hart & I considered him to be my role model. His will to survive till the end and overcome obstacles gave me the power of patience. It was he because of whom Im very patient with everyone in my life. Every moment since he came back from his back injury has been a bonus and in his prime I don't think anyone could out perform him. I think its a fitting end for a legend. WWE will never be the same again.
I would like to divide this post into a few segments.First I'll talk about Shawn's last match At Wrestlemania XXVI,then his farewell speech the next day at Raw & finally a look at his career & as to why he is the Greatest WWE Superstar of All Time.

Shawn Michaels's Last Match

Like millions of WWE fans around the world, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen as Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker entered the Wrestlmania ring this Sunday night.
For the duration of their 24-minute match, all the fans were on the edge of their seats.
Michaels rattled-off multiple Sweet Chin Music superkicks. The Undertaker doled out every signature maneuver in his arsenal.
And neither man would stay down.
As HBK kicked out of yet another Deadman specialty, the Tombstone, the advantage had swung to the corner of the man who was 17-0 on the biggest stage in sports entertainment.
The Undertaker lowered the straps on his attire, telling Michaels to "stay down" as the Showstopper climbed Taker's body to get to his feet.
Defiant to the end, HBK slapped the Deadman, infuriating him and sealing his fate.
It was as if HBK had given everything he had left and knew his time had come. And I couldn't have written it any better myself.Shawn Michaels put forth everything he had in his attempt to turn 17-0 into 17-1.
HBK stole the show at so many Wrestlemania's, and this year was no different.
So when we think back to Wrestlemania XXVI, we will forever remember Shawn Michaels walking up the ramp, saying goodbye, in person, to more than 72,000 adoring fans. And that's the way it should be.

Shawn Michaels's Farewell Speech On Raw

Monday night's farewell on Raw was executed equally as well as his final match. Michaels addressed his fans, friends and peers, thanking them all for their place in his 20-plus year career. The fans, in turn, thanked Michaels again and again before his music hit and he left the ring one final time.
I know that retirements in wrestling almost never stick, but his farewell segment did not feel like I was hearing from a guy who will start to miss the business in a few months and come back. With every word that Michaels spoke while saying goodbye, it started to feel more and more legitimate, more real, more final.
He had just wrestled an all-time classic match the night before. It has never been about winning and losing, but rather the quality of the work, and he certainly delivered that on Sunday night. He left when he was still at the very top of his game, with a match that will go down as one of the best in the history of wrestling’s biggest show.
If it turns out as it feels like it just might, Shawn got to walk away on his own terms, as one of the greatest of all time, while he is still the best there is.
When a man of HBK's stature ends his career, it absolutely needs to be done right. The writers came through, delivering the best end-of-career storyline I've seen in my 15 years as a wrestling fan.

Why Shawn Michaels Is The Greatest Superstar Of All Time

Well there are many categories that one performer needs to fulfill to set him apart from the outstanding wrestlers throughout the years. And Shawn Michaels excels in all those categories quite easily.

Wrestling Ability

Michaels combines a high-flying luchador style with precision technical wrestling. The most recent tally of Match of the Year awards for Michaels includes 1 Slammy award, 2 Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards, and a record-setting 9 awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
Bruno Sammartino holds 5 Match of the Year awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated, and Ric Flair was so honored 4 times; these two greats must be combined to equal Michaels.
Batista once said, “Shawn Michaels can make a broomstick look like a World Champion. Come to think of it, that’s what he did with me.”
In his New York Times Best-Selling autobiography, Have a Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks, Mick Foley said that his Mind Games match with Michaels was on the short list of the three greatest things he’d ever done in wrestling, following it up with “I’ve never been that good again.”
Ric Flair, who hand-picked Michaels for his final match both in and out of storyline, has said that Shawn Michaels had a five-star match with a ladder at WrestleMania X, there just happened to be another guy in the ring too.
Unlike many of the candidates for the greatest WWE Superstar, Shawn Michaels is capable of getting a good match out of almost anyone.

Fan Connection

Undoubtedly, Michaels possesses the elusive level of charisma that few wrestlers can claim.
Whether as a heel or a babyface, Michaels can tap into the emotion of the fans.
As part of the Midnight Rockers in the AWA, later simply The Rockers, through his singles career, his career-ending back injury, and his triumphant, emotional return, Michaels has always elicited an emotional tie between himself and the fans of professional wrestling.
Look back through his years with the WWF/E and be amazed at the number of HBK, The Kliq, and Shawn Michaels signs and merchandise appearing in the audience. Michaels has brought the crowd to laughter, intense support, extreme hatred, and even incited many in the audience to tears.
Michaels is adept, more than any other Superstar, at manipulating the crowd reaction to suit his role. He is equally effective and brilliant as both a heel and a babyface, a feat that few Superstars can assert.

Mic Skills

Shawn Michaels is cherished for his uncanny ability to whip the crowd into a frenzy, no matter which role he plays.
Exceptional verbal encounters are as much a trademark for Michaels as his legendary in-ring capability.
Find the Youtube video of his Montreal 2005 gem while promoting the SummerSlam match with Hulk Hogan.
Michaels inflamed the crowd for nearly 17 minutes, stoking the frenzied fury of the sold out arena with every deliberately chosen barb, every shift in demeanor, and every perfectly orchestrated facial expression.Michaels can take any storyline, any concept, any feud, and transmute it into pure gold simply by picking up a microphone.
No one else has provided as many memorable moments as Shawn Michaels. From RAW to Pay-Per-Views, Michaels has the cornerstone on unforgettable snapshots in the WWE.
Michaels puts his heart and soul into every match, every promo, and every segment that he is in and it is the fans that benefit.
From the Barber Shop heel turn and forward, Michaels has been involved in the most remarkable moments of WWE history.
The ladder match at WrestleMania X, the back-to-back Royal Rumble Wins, the entire Wrestlemania 12 belonged to Shawn right from his dazzling never-seen-before entrance to the fulfillment of his boyhood dreams, the Montreal Screwjob, his Kliq & D-Generation X, his emotional and exultant return at SummerSlam 2002, his classic encounters with Triple H,Chris Benoit,Chris Jericho,Kurt Angle,John Cena among others , the heart-rending retirement of Ric Flair at WrestleMania 24, and the two Wrestlemania losses against The Undertaker are a mere few of the moments that the Heartbreak Kid has given the world of professional wrestling.
Particularly in big match events, Michaels consistently has the best match on the card. His ring psychology is second to none, each of his matches tells a unique story.
Michaels has a versatility that is unmatched. He is capable of comedy and sarcasm, attitude and solemnity, and a flair that brings realism into suspect storylines.
There is only one man who can lay claim to every element attributed to the greatest WWE Superstar of all time, as well as possessing multiple defining characteristics that set him apart from the pack.
The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels.

Final Say

What a storied career. He had highs, he had lows, he had extreme highs and he had extreme lows, but at the end of the day, he managed to turn the lows around and have an amazing career, start an amazing family and rekindle great friendships. Not to mention putting on a great show for us, the WWF/E fans.
Last night on Raw Shawn Michaels said goodbye and thanked us, his fans. Today, I want to return the favor. Thank you Shawn for everything you do, for every match you had, every bump you took, every day you spend away from your family. Thanks for all of the entertainment you gave me over the years. You said it was an honour and a privilege to showoff for us every night of your life, well Shawn, It TRULY was an honour and a privilege to get to see someone of your caliber perform for us week in and week out. You will be missed but the moments, memories you gave to all of us will live on in the annels of time. And There can never be another Shawn Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid, The Headliner, The Showstopper, The Main Event, The Icon & Mr. WrestleMania. Enjoy whatever you choose to do from here on out. You have earned the right to do it. You will be missed.
